Ó MACTÍRE—IO Macketyre, Wolfe; 'descendant of Mactíre' (wolf); the name of a branch of the Ui Liathain in East Cork. Uamhnachán Ua Mactíre was Bishop of Cloyne at the end of the 11th century. The name is said to be still in East Cork, but now very rare.
