Ó MACDHA—IO Makie, O Macky, Mackey; 'descendant of Macdha' (virile, manly); an old Ormond surname, still common in Tipperary, Limerick and Cork; to be distinguished from Mac Aoidh (which see) which is sometimes similarly anglicised.
