Ó Conbhuidhe

Rev Patrick Woulfe

Ó CONBHUIDHE—I—Conboy, Conaboy, Conwy, (Conway); 'descendant of Cú-buidhe' (yellow-hound); the name (1) of a family of the Ui Fiachrach who were anciently seated at Dunneill, in the barony of Tireragh, Co. Sligo, and were still numerous in O'Donovan's time in the parish of Easky, in the same county; and (2) of a family of the Ui Maine, in Co. Galway. I have not been able to discover any early anglicised form of the name in either district.
