Mac CONCHAIRRGE, Mac CONCHARRAIGE—IVM'Encarrigy, M'Incargy, M'Necargy, MacCarrick, Carrigy, Carrigee, Kerragy, Carrick, and, by translation, Rock; 'son of Cú-charraige' (an Irish personal name meaning 'hound of the rock'); the name of a Thomond family who were stewards to the O'Briens in West Clare. In 1641, they were proprietors of Lisbulligeen, in the parish of Kilfenora. This surname is also found in Sligo and Leitrim where, however, it is probably a substitution for the old surname Mac Conchathrach, which see.
