Ó SEARCÓID—IO Sherkott, Sharket, Sharkett; 'descendant of Searcoid' (lover); the name of a Roscommon family. 'Sean Buidhe Ó Sergoid, chief priest of Trinity Island, was drowned in Loch Cé, on Easter Sunday, 1578.' The name was never very common, but is still represented in Co. Roscommon.
