Ó RODÁIN—IO Rodane, O Ruddane, O Rudden, Rodan, Roden, Rodin, Rodden, Rudden, Ruddon, Reddan, Reddin; 'descendant of Rodán' (diminutive of rod, strong); an old surname in Donegal, Monaghan and Clare. The O'Rodains of the last-named county were stewards to the O'Briens and MacNamaras, and held considerable property in the neighbourhood of Six-mile-bridge down to the Cromwellian confiscations.
