Ó MUINEACHÁIN—I—Menehan, Menahan, Meenehan, (Monahan), &c, Thornton; an attenuated form of Ó Manacháin, which see. It is popularly supposed to be connected with 'muineach,' thorny, and is consequently in some places 'translated' Thornton.
