Ó FLAITIRE—IO Flattery, Flattery; 'descendant of Flaithfhile' (prince-poet); a corruption of Ó Flaithfhileadh; the name of a family of Dealbhna Eathra, in the barony of Garrycastle, in the present Offaly, where it is still in use. The corruption of this name to its present form had taken place before the end of the 16th century. Compare with Ó Flaitile.
