Ó CAIREALLÁIN—I—O Caralane, O Carlane, Carellan, Carlan, Carland, Carlin, (Carleton); 'descendant of Caireallán' (diminutive of Caireall); the name of a branch of the Cinel Eoghain who were formerly chiefs of Clandermot, Co. Derry. William Carleton, the novelist, was of this family. See Ó Coirealláin.
