CINEAL EOGHAIN, race of Eoghan, son of Niall of the Nine Hostages, whose territory originally comprised the present counties of Tyrone and Derry and the baronies of Raphoe and Inishowen in Donegal. The O'Neills were for many centuries the chief family.
