Ó BODHRÁIN—IIIO Boherane, O Borhane, Boran; 'descendant of the deaf-man' (Irish bodhrán, diminutive of bodhar, deaf); a very rare surname; in use at the beginning of the 17th century in Tyrone and Tipperary; now peculiar to the latter county and the adjoining parts of Co. Limerick.
