Mac CADÁIN—IV—M'Coddane, M'Coddan, MacCadden, MacCudden, Muckedan; 'son of Cadán' (an Irish personal name, Latin Catanus); a rare Ulster surname, peculiar, in the 16th century, to Armagh. It is impossible to distinguish its anglicised forms from those of Mac Adáin, which see.
