DOIBÍN—VIII—Dobin, Dobyn, Dobbin, Dobbyn, Dobbins, Dobbyns; 'son of Dobin' (diminutive of Dob, a pet form of Robert); the name of an old family in Waterford. Laurence Dobbyn was mayor in 1460, as was Patrick Dobbyn in 1589.
