KILLOWILLAN

KILLOWILLAN, a parish, in the barony of BARRYMORE, county of CORK, and province of MUNSTER, 3 ½ miles (S. E.) from Fcrmoy, on the road from that place to Tallow; containing 335 inhabitants. This parish, which comprises 1093 statute acres, as applotted under the tithe act, and valued at £721 per annum, was originally a townland in the parish of Castle-Lyons, but became a parish on being given by Charles II. to the Bishop of Cloyne, as part of his mensal lands. It is a rectory, in the diocese of Cloyne, entirely appropriate to the bishop's mensal: the tithes amount to £55. 7. 8.

In the R. C. divisions it forms part of the union or district of Castle-Lyons.
