Ó TUATHCHAIR—IO Tougher, O Togher, Tougher, Taugher, Togher, Tooher, Toher, Tooker, Tucker; 'descendant of Tuathchar' (people-dear); the name of at least two distinct families, the one seated originally in Ely O'Carroll, but now dispersed through the neighbouring counties; the other in West Ulster, whence the name passed into Mayo, where it is now not uncommon.
