Tivane, Teevan; 'descendant of Teimhneán' (diminutive of Teimhean, dark, grey); (1) an Ossory surname, now common in Leinster and Munster; and (2) a Sligo surname, still extant in Connacht, anglicised Tivnane, Tevnane, &c., but rare.
