Ó TÉACHÁIN—I—O Taughan, O Tauhan, Teaghan, Teahan, Teehan, Tehane, Tehan; probably a contraction of Ó Teitheacháin ('descendant of Teitheachán,' fugitive, runaway); the name of a Roscommon family. Ó Téacháin is an old surname in Kerry, where it is still well represented.
