Ó SUAIRD, Ó SUAIRT—IIO Sworde, O Swerte, Sword, Seward, Swords; 'descendant of Suart' (probably the Norse Sigeweard, Siward); the name of an old family in Offaly. The Four Masters record the death of Eithne, daughter of Ua Suairt, abbess of Kildare, in 1016.
