Ó SCATHGHAIL—IO Scahill, Scahill, Skahill, Schaill; 'descendant of Scaithgheal' (flower-fair); more anciently Mac Scaithghil, which see; the name of a Galway family who were chiefs of Corca Mogha, now anglicised Corcamoe, which comprised the parish of Kilkerrin, until dispossessed by the O'Concannons soon after the Anglo-Norman invasion. It is now always pronounced Ó Scathail in Galway and Mayo.
