Ó MUIREÁIN—I—O Murrane, O Murran, Murrane, Murran, Murrin, Murren, Morrin, (Moran); 'descendant of Muireán' (diminutive of some name commencing with Muir-); possibly a variant of Ó Muireagáin, which see; the name of a family of Ui Fiachrach, in the west of Co. Mayo; also common in many other parts of Ireland.
