Ó MOTHLACHÁIN—I—O Mohilaghane, O Moholane, (?) Mullane; 'descendant of Mothlachán' (diminutive of mothlach, shaggy); formerly a very common Munster surname. It was too common to have died out, and must be disguised under some strange anglicised form, perhaps Mullane.
