Ó MIADHACHÁIN—I—O Mighane, O Meaghane, O Meighane, O Mehane, O Myhane, O Meghan, O'Meehan, O'Meehon, Meeghan, Meighan, Meghan, Myhane, Myhan, Mehan, Meehan, &c.; 'descendant of Miadhachán' (diminutive of 'miadhach,' honourable); a common surname in nearly every part of Ireland. There are, no doubt, several distinct families so called. Ó Míodhcháin is a frequent, but incorrect, spelling of the name. See also Ó Miadhagáin.
