Ó MAOILMHIADHAIGH—IO Mulmee, Mulvey; 'descendant of Maolmiadhach' (honourable chief); the name of a family of the same stock as the MacRannals and O'Farrells, who were chiefs of Muinntear Chearbhalláin, in Magh Nisi, a district on the east side of the Shannon, in the barony and county of Leitrim, and sometimes of all Muinntear Eolais. The family, which was a distinguished one, is frequently mentioned in the Irish annals, and is still well represented in Co. Leitrim.
