Ó MAOILGHEIRIC, Ó MAOILGHIRIC—I—O Mulgherick, O Mulhericke, O Mullerick, Mullerick, Millerick; 'descendant of Maolghiric' (servant of St. Cyriacus); an old Tirconnell surname, formerly not uncommon, but now probably often corrupted to Ó Maoildeirg, which see. Maelísa Ó Maoilghiric, chief poet and ard-ollav of Ireland, is mentioned in the annals at the year 1088.
