Ó MAICÍN—IO Mackine, Mackin, Macken; 'descendant of Maicín' (diminutive of mac, a son, youth); also Ó Macáin, which see; a scattered surname, now found chiefly in Mayo, Monaghan and Louth. Tomás Ó Maicín was Bishop of Achonry in the 13th century, (1251-1265).
