Ó hORCÁIN—I—O Hurkan, Horkan, Harkon, Horkin, Harkin, Harkins, Arkins; 'descendant of Orcán' (diminutive of orc, a pig); a common surname in Mayo and Clare; but, not improbably, it is a corruption of Ó hEarcáin, which see.
