Ó hARTAGÁIN—I—O Hartigan, Hartigan, Hartican; 'descendant of Artagán' (diminutive of Art); the name of a Dalcassian family in Thomond, still well known in Clare and Limerick. Dúnlaing Ó hArtagáin was one of the heroes of Clontarf.
