Ó hAINBHTHEÁIN, Ó hAINBHTHÍN—IO Hanavane, O Henefaine, O Hannefean, Hanefan, Hanifan, Hanafin, Hanifin, &c.; 'descendant of Ainbhtheán' or 'Ainbhthín' (diminutive of Ainbhioth); also written Ó hAinfeáin, Ó hAinfín, &c.; a well known surname in Cork and Kerry, where, not improbably, it represents the old surname O hAinbhith, of Corca Laoighdhe. See Ó hAinbhith above (4). MacFirbis mentions a family of the name in Roscommon.
