Ó hAILMHIC—I—O Halwick, O Halvie, (?) Halvey, Hanwick; 'descendant of Ailmhac' (noble-son); the name of a family of Ui Fiachrach in Connacht, now possibly represented by the Mayo surname Hanwick. For the anglicised form 'Halvey,' compare with Kirby for Ó Círmhic.
