Ó GILÍN—I—Gilleen, Gillen, Gellen, Gillon; 'descendant of Gilín' (diminutive of geal, bright, white); the name of two distinct families in Connacht, one in Tirawley and the other in Partry. Both families have been long dispersed, but the name is still extant in Connacht and in other parts of Ireland.
