Ó CUIRNÍN, Ó CÚIRNÍN—I—O Curnyne, Corneen, Curneene, Curneen, Curnin, Courneen, (Courtney); 'descendant of Cuirnín' (diminutive of corn, a horn, a drinking cup); the name of a literary family in Breifney who were poets and chroniclers to the O'Rourkes. The head of the family resided in Church Island, in Lough Gill.
