Ó CORBÁIN—I—O Corbane, O Coribane, Corbane, Corban, Corbin, (Corbett, Corbitt); 'descendant of Corbán' (diminutive of corb, a chariot, a pet form of some name commencing with Corb). This surname was formerly found in all the counties of Munster, and in Kilkenny, Carlow and Galway. It is now nearly always disguised under the anglicised form of Corbett.
