Ó COITIL—II—Cottle; 'descendant of Ketill' (a Norse personal name; compare with Mac Coitil); the name of a branch of the Ui Fiachrach in Co. Sligo, who resided at Baile Ui Choitil, now anglicised Cottlestown, in the parish of Castleconor. O'Donovan found it still in the district under the anglicised form of Cottle.
