Ó COINNE—IO Cunny, O Quiney, Conney, Cunny, Quinny, (Kenny, Quin), &c; 'descendant of Coinne' (a variant of Coinneach); a not uncommon Ulster surname. The family was originally seated in Ui Eachach, in Co. Down, but seems to have afterwards removed to the neighbourhood of Strabane.
