Ó BUADHACHÁIN—I—O Boughane, O Boughan, O Boghan, Boughan, Bougan, Boohan, Bohane, Bohan, (?) Boyhan, (Bowen, Bohanan); 'descendant of Buadhachán' (diminutive of Buadhach, victorious); a rather scattered surname. In the 16th century it was found chiefly in Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Offaly and Kilkenny.
