Ó BRUACHÁIN—IO Broughan, O Broghan, O Brohan, Broughan, Brohan, and, by 'translation,' Banks; 'descendant of Bruachán' (corpulent, or miser); originally a Connacht surname, but in the 16th century common in Westmeath, Kildare and Tipperary, and now also in Co. Clare. See Ó Bruachóg.
