Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

Mag FHIONNBHAIRR—IVM'Gynnowar, Magennure, Magennore, Magenor, Geanor, Gainer, Gaynor; 'son of Fionnbharr' (fair-head), now anglicised Finbar. This family took its name from an ancestor called Fionnbharr Ó Géaradháin who flourished about the beginning of the 12th century. The head of the family was chief of Muinntear Gearadhain, in the north of the present Co. Longford, down to the 17th century. See Mag Fhionnbharra, which is a variant.
