Mag CONGAIL—IV—MacGonagle, MacGonigle, MacGonegle, MacGonegal, MacGonigal, MacGonnigle, MacGonnell, Gunnigle, Gunnell; a variant of Mac Congail and Mac Conghaile, which see; a well-known Tirconnell surname. Donald MagCongail was Bishop of Raphoe from 1562 to 1589; he was one of the few Irish bishops who assisted at the Council of Trent.
