Mac MÁIGHEÓC, Mac MÁIGHEÓG—V—MacMajoke, M'Maoge, M'Maogh-Condon, M'Mawige, M'Maug, Mackmawe-Condon, MacMay, Mawe, May, Mea, [Condon]; 'son of Mayoc' or 'Mayog' (diminutive of Maheu, the Norman-French form of Matthew); a patronymic surname assumed by a branch of the family of Condon in East Cork and Waterford. The present anglicised forms are derived from the shortened form, Mac Máighe, which see.
