Mac IOMAIRE, Montgomery, Gomory, Ridge. This seems to be merely an attempt to represent the sound of the English surname Montgomery. Ridge is an attempted translation, on the erroneous supposition that the latter part of the surname is the Irish word 'iomaire,' a ridge. In West Clare it is pronounced Magomrach.
