Mac GLÚIN—IVM'Clone, M'Cloane, M'Clowne, MacCloone, Clune; 'son of Glún' (knee, probably a 'pet' form of Glúniarainn, iron-knee, or Glúntradhna, corn-crake knee); the name of an old Thomond family who were seated at Ballymacloon, in the parish of Quin, Co. Clare, where the name is still well known.
