Mac Dhuibhshíthe
Mac DHUIBHSHÍTHE—IV—M'Duffyhe, M'Duffie, MacAffie, MacAffee, MacAfee, MacHaffie, MacHaffy, MacFie, MacFee, Mahaffy; 'son of Dubhshíthe' (the black-man of peace); the name of a Scottish family who for many centuries held the island of Colonsay. They were a brave and warlike clan, and as followers of the MacDonalds of Islay and the Camerons of Lochiel, showed their prowess on many a field. They suffered severely at Culloden in 1745, when the whole clan was out for Prince Charlie. A branch of the family settled in Co. Antrim in the 16th century, and others probably came over at a later period.
