Mac CURTÁIN—IV—M'Curtains, M'Curtayne, MacCurtain, Curtayne, Courtayne, Curtain, Curtin, &c.; 'son of Artán' (diminutive of Art); a Munster form of Mac Cartáin, which see. This surname was well established in Cork before the end of the i6th century.
