Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

Mac CEALLAIGH—IVM'Kelly, Kelly; 'son of Ceallach' (war, contention); the name (1) of an Co. Galway family of the same stock as the O'Maddens, and (2) of a Co. Leitrim family. There were, no doubt, several other families of the name in Ireland, but they cannot now be distinguished from the O'Kellys. Mac Ceallaigh is also the name of the Kellys of the Isle of Man.
