LUIBHÉID—VIII—Lovett, Lovitt, Lovat, Levett; 'son of Lovet' (diminutive of Love, a Norman personal name, which came into England with William the Conqueror). As a surname it came into Ireland about the time of the Anglo-Norman invasion.
