LAITÍN—VIII—Latin, Lattine, Latten; 'son of Latin' (a personal name in Domesday Book). In Ireland, the surname was very rare and peculiar to Co. Kildare. The Rev. J. Latin was a priest of the diocese of Kildare in 1612.
