FURLONG—XIForlong, Furlong; English 'at the furlong,' a division of an unenclosed corn-field, from residence therein or thereby; the name of an old and respectable Anglo-Irish family in Co. Wexford. Their chief seat was at Horestown, but they owned also the manors of Camross, Carrigmanan and Bridestown. The name is still common in Wexford.
