de HÉADÚN—XIde Hedune, Heden, Headon, Heydon, Haydon, etc.; Norman 'de Hedune,' i.e., of Headon or Haydon, the name of several places in England. This surname came into Ireland soon after the Anglo-Norman invasion, but scarcely spread outside Dublin. 'Stephanus de Hedune' occurs in the Dublin Roll of Names, A.D. 1216.
