de CEAPÓC—XIde Keppoc, de Keppok, Keappock, Keppock, Cappock, etc.; Norman 'de Keppoc,' i.e., of Ceapóg, an Irish place-name signifying a green plot before a house (Dinneen). The ceapóg from which the family took its name was in Co. Louth, where they settled early in the 13th century.
