DALAMARA—XI—Delamar, Delamere, etc.; Norman 'de la Mare,' i.e. of la Mare in Normandy. This family settled in England at the time of the Norman Conquest, and came to Ireland soon after the Anglo-Norman invasion. The Delameres had extensive estates in Co. Westmeath down to the Cromwellian confiscations. They assumed the Irish patronymic surname of MacHerbert.
